Hello friends,
As i begin to write my first blog, i was faced with a big question regarding which topic to write about. There are so many things happening around us, which are by the way very exciting too. There is this lokpal bill issue, Indian cricket team's disastrous tour of Australia, Baichung Bhutia's retirement, India's free fall in the super computers ranking, Delhi's auto expo with so many exciting new models of cars etc. But, when i asked myself that which is the one thing that i love most, it was movies all the way.
My fascination for movies started right form my childhood. I was awestruck every time when I saw movies on big celluloid. I loved the very idea of watching a movie in dark, forgetting all about the world which surrounds us and just enjoying the show on screen.Films are one of very few mediums where we can see our imagination come to life. I experienced this once again when i watched Sherlock Holmes- A game of shadows, recently.
The first film in the series was path breaking and gave a new dimension to the Character of Sherlock Holmes. Second movie took Sherlock to altogether a new height. It is one of the best sequels i have seen and arguably better than first one.
The plot is based on rivalry between Sherlock and his most infamous enemy Prof. Moriarty. Sherlock Holmes tries to stop the world war which is being planned by Professor and his associates during 1891. A series of blast takes place in Germany and France, leading both countries to blame each other. As tension mounts on both sides Sherlock has the task cut out to stop war which is brewing rapidly and bring an end to the professor's disastrous plans for World. In this task, he is being assisted unwillingly by his famous side kick Dr. Watson, whose honeymoon has been wrecked by the thugs of professor who has plans of killing everyone close to Sherlock.

I am a big fan of character Sherlock Holmes created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I have read all the 56 short stories and 4 novels written by him on Sherlock Holmes. The very idea of deducing a chain of events or history of a particular person with very minute details is mind blowing. I always imagined Sherlock Holmes as a person who solves major portion of a case just sitting on his arm chair, without even visiting the crime scene once. Am sure most of the fans of Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories agree with me. But, then came the shock of the century....
Guy Richtie, director of new Sherlock Holmes series interpreted Sherlock in altogether a new way. This Sherlock was adventurous, action oriented, eccentric to the core and most of all liked to solve the case in real world.

Its clearly understood that Sherlock goes to all length to save his dear friend and succeeds too. Then starts the game of cat and mouse between Sherlock and professor, both trying to out think each other till the end. As the Good triumphs Evil at the End. But, the journey movie takes to climax is exhilarating and amazing.
The technology used in cinematography is of very high standards and captures every detail of each scene clearly. Direction is amazing. Guy Richtie is known slick and fast paced narration and he doesn't disappoint. Humor is sprinkled generously all over the movie. The scene where Sherlock disguises as a lady on train and having interaction with Watson is amazingly funny. The protagonists Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock and Jude Law as Watson are amazing and the chemistry between them is crackling. Women protagonists have less screen space but made presence felt in whatever time they have got. This post cannot end without a few words regarding the fantastic portrayal of professor Moriarty by James Harris. It was rumored that Brad Pitt was considered to this role previously. But eventually in went to James Harris and he never disappoints you.
So this movie is one amazing and thrilling ride which starts in London, moves through Paris and Berlin, and finally ends in the picturesque Switzerland. when we finally come out of theater all we think of is what's next?????????
